Our Metal Christmas Ornaments are sourced from an import company created over 35 years ago to keep close-knit families in Thailand working together in their traditional villages, instead of separating to travel to big cities like Bangkok to find work. This allows the community to remain together in their homeland, utilizing traditional metalworking skills. Each piece is made by hand in a sustainable way. No lead products are used.
The ornament jobs do not disrupt the flow of village life. During the harvest season the craft workers can put down their metalworking tools and take to their fields and gardens. For a time Lychee trees take precedence over ornament making. At their own pace, and in accordance with village life, these beautiful ornaments are made with gratitude and happiness, knowing that the money they receive for their work preserves the ability to continue village traditions. Families are able to happily stay together as dignified craftspeople building a livelihood by making a gorgeous product for all of us to enjoy.
